Cephalopoda are a very diverse group of Mollusca and can be classified in to two main group of Nautilolidea and Coleoidea. They can be traced back as far as five hundred million years. A few Cephalopoda are: 1. Argonauta Argonauta can grow up to 30 cm and are generally founded in bulky groups in the tropical waters or on jellyfish. 2. Ammonites Ammonites has a strong outer shell to protect them from, danger. However, they have been extinct for a extensive time as compared to dinosaurs. Founded fossils has proven that an female Ammonities is about four hundred percent larger than an males.The shells are typically ribbed, spiral shell. They consume countless living marine creatures as they prefer to inhabit warm shallow water as they can withstand pressure over 100 meters underwater. 3. Nautilus Nautilus are carnivores as they enjoy to eat lobsters, crabs,hermit crabs and other tasty tidbits on bottom of the ocean.Nautilus shells can be found in the southwestern Pacific; however, the dead shells travels toward East Africa and Japan. |
